Two years after his first solo show at Dart Gallery, Jim Moir is returning to Dartmouth this October with a brand new collection to coincide with Dartmouth Food Festival.

A hugely versatile artist, Jim is renowned for his contributions to comedy, television, and the arts and is known to many as his stage persona, ‘Vic Reeves’. Whilst he established himself as a household name for his TV comedy work (including Vic Reeves Big Night Out, Shooting Stars, and The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer), art has always remained Jim’s first passion. In recent years, Jim’s artistic talent has found a new outlet in Sky Arts’ ‘Painting Birds with Jim and Nancy Moir’.

Jim’s talent for observing the natural world blends with his surreal humour to produce an eclectic body of artwork. For his latest show at Dart Gallery, Jim’s birdlife and surreal canvases will hang alongside a collection of 100 diminutive paintings inspired by Dartmouth Food Festival. With a nod to Jim’s comedy writing (which often celebrates the absurd in the ordinary), each painting proudly showcases a single, labelled item of food.

‘It’s great to be back in Dartmouth again at the food festival; it inspired me to do lots of food painting for the show – I hope people like them!’

Where: Dart Gallery, Dartmouth
When: From 24th October 2025
